Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Marvel or DC universes were overrun by massive killer robots?
Been there, seen that you say?
Well, ever wondered what would happen if the robots won, killed all of the super heroes and took over the world?
Well wonder no more. Cos here comes Foot Soldiers.
Chances are you have already read or heard about The Foot Soldiers comic book series. Written by Jim Krueger, drawn by Michael Avon Oeming and first released in 1996, the series is set in a world of pain and destruction. The super heroes are all long dead and the human race is forced to live in squalor by their evil robot overlords, The Bio-Technic Law. Forced to work the factories and split meager rations, the future for the people of Earth looks bleak, if there is a future at all. Will anyone arise to save the human race? You bet they will!
A group of teenage tearaways happen across some Superhero artifacts while in a graveyard for fallen heroes. Guided by a strange old man this unlikely band of would be saviors put their new found ancient powers to work.
This is a very entertaining and beloved comic, it’s pacey, gritty and stunning to look at and puts a very inventive twist on the Super hero genre. If you are anything like me you will prefer the trade paperbacks as you don’t have to wait a month for the next issue and this one is a must for all comic fans.
Foot Soldiers vol. 1 brings together issues #1 – #4 of the comic in a trade paperback released by Image on the 23rd May, 2012.
