The Oscars Left Scott Wilson Out of Their In Memoriam

Scott Wilson Was Left Out of the Oscars’ In Memoriam Segment

Beloved actor Scott Wilson was not included in the Oscars’ In Memoriam montage as it aired Sunday night. He’s not the only one that was left out, either.

Scott Wilson is quite possibly best known for his work in The Walking Dead. There he played Hershel Green. Hershel was the widowed farm owner that many fans grew to love. He becomes a surrogate mentor of sorts for Rick Grimes, before his death, that is.

Wilson passed away only one day before the premiere of the ninth season of The Walking Dead. His character had made a reprisal, so the news was especially sad to his coworkers and fans.

Scott Wilson is also well known for many of his other projects, including The Ninth Configuration, In Cold Blood, and The Great Gatsby (1974 version), as well as dozens of appearances in other TV shows and movies.

While the Oscars may have slipped up and forgotten to include Scott Wilson in the In Memoriam segment, other award ceremonies did not. He was remembered at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards back in January.

Not the Only One

Scott Wilson was not the only person forgotten during the Oscars’ In Memoriam segment. Fans became painfully aware of others being missing as well: Verne Troyer, R. Lee Ermey, Carol Channing, Sondra Locke, Stanley Donen, Dick Miller, Mark Urman, Ricky Jay, Jonas Mekas, and Stephen Hillenburg.

Many fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure at the perceived Oscars snubbing. While the Oscars have been extremely adamant that they cannot fit everyone in the segment, some of the choices have left people feeling a bit raw. Here are some highlights of the reactions.
