Things to Know About The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian

Be a Manda-know-rian

Disney may have slowed down on the production of feature films with the Star Wars name but as of now two live-action series are in the works. The 1st series that we have received information about will be called The Mandalorian. Set to premiere on the new Disney streaming service Disney+, the show should arrive by 2020. Even though that seems a way off a decent amount of information is known about the show. Below we run down some of the choice pieces of news to come out about The Mandalorian.

What is a Mandalorian?

You may or a may not have heard the term before but you have been exposed it. When thinking of Mandalorians really one major name is necessary to know. Boba Fett. That’s right everyone’s favorite bounty hunter is dressed head to toe in Mandalorian armor.

The basics are that Mandalorians come from the planet of Mandalore. It is a planet with a rich warrior history. Warriors the likes of which could go toe to toe with a Jedi Knight. And throughout their history have on many occasions. If you would like to see some Mandalorians in action I recommend watching some Star Wars The Clone Wars. There are some fantastic episodes that include Obi-Wan dealing with a variety of conflicts on the planet.

What Story Are We Getting?

The official synopsis for the show reads as follows

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

And that is enough to get me interested. It does not reveal too much about the format of the show, however. Will we be told the lone Mandalorian’s story over the course of the episodes, or will it go the way of Quantum Leap where he would hunt a new bounty each week. Either option would be entertaining and the team behind it would be able to pull either off. Which brings us to…

The Team Behind It

One of my favorite reasons to be excited about the show is the cast and crew that are working on it. The series will star Pedro Pascal in the leading role. Pascal, you may recognize from his role on Netflix’s Narcos or for his turn as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones. The latter of the two making him no stranger to franchise entertainment.

John Favreau will be executive producing, who himself has been a traveler in the Star Wars universe. He provides the voices for Rio Durant in Solo and for the Mandalorian (that’s right the same kind) commander Pre Vizsla in the Clone Wars. The series will also bring in notable directors to helm certain episodes. Directors that range from Rick Famugiwa to Taika Waititi, Waititi a personal favorite of mine who’s projects include What We Do in the Shadows and Thor Ragnarok.

We will keep you posted as more news comes out but be sure to let us know what you think down below! Are you excited about the possibilities of the show? Or if there is anything else that we should be excited about, let us know!
