Two New Vehicles Revealed for The Last Jedi

Note: this article may contain spoilers for the upcoming franchise film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We at Word of the Nerd understand that some of our readers want to go into this massively anticipated film as unspoiled as possible, so we’re trying to be accommodating for their convenience.

According to “The Star Wars Show,” two new types of vehicles have been added to the Star Wars universe. These vehicles are going to be used by the villainous First Order to assist in enacting their evil plans. Watch the vehicle reveal on “The Star Wars Show” below!

More about Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The two new vehicles announced for Star Wars: The Last Jedi are named the Dreadnought and the AT-M6 walker. The Dreadnought is a massive (7,669.72 meters or 25,162.8 feet long) Mandator IV Class Warship. It’s similar to an armored gunboat in that it’s a flat platform where there are guns and cannons that the villains fire upon our protagonists. The Dreadnought is a high-power one of these: not only is it large, it’s about two-and-a-half times the size of a standard Star Destroyer (the Empire’s class of these types of weapons).

The AT-M6 (All Terrain MegaCaliber Six) Walker is partially named after the big laser cannon it has on the back. This weapon is also larger than its franchise predecessor, the Empire’s AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport). Lucasfilm design supervisor Kevin Jenkins based this weapon’s movement on a gorilla and designed it in such a manner that pesky rebel soldiers cannot easily attack it via snow speeders (as seen in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back).

Maybe neither of these two weapons is as frightening as a Death Star or a Starkiller Base, and you wish this reveal was of more badass weapons. However, normal sized weapons belonging to the First Order aren’t good for the health and well-being of our protagonists (who we’re supposed to be rooting for) and the Resistance in general.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be coming to a theater near you on 16 December 2017.
