Uncanny X-Men Trailer Released
It isn’t every day that you get to see a trailer for a new comic series. Though it’d be great to see that happening more often… Marvel released a trailer to advertise for their newest series, Uncanny X-Men, and it certainly is eye-catching.
The focus of the series is a Marvel plot called X-Men Disassembled. If the images shown in the trailer are anything to go by, we should expect lots of action…and realistically a few character deaths as well. The goal is to bring many different parts of the X-Men world full circle; having them see the full consequences of what they’ve created.
The series will be ten issues in total and will release in weekly installments. The first issue released this week, so if you’re curious about what it’ll entail, it’s probably best to grab it before the series gets too far along.
The trailer shows lots of individual images, as well as taking the time to show us most of the creative team involved. There is one line that keeps getting repeated and repeated in the beginning though; “where is Kitty Pryde?” The intensity of the question is increased with each repetition. This leaves one to wonder, is she missing? Dead? Or is something else going on?
Thanks to the fact that this is an X-Men series, and also due to the fact that the writers don’t want to leave anybody out there are a ton of characters making appearances in the series. The first issue alone boasts the inclusion of: Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, Lucas Bishop, Storm, X-23, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Iceman, Beast, Polaris, Cannonball, Archangel, Northstar, Armor, Pixie, Rockslide, Oya, Anole, and Glob. Not listed on that first page, but clearly include is Multiple Man. There are likely countless others that will be showing up throughout the course of the next nine issues as well.
You can usually tell how major a plot will be based on how many people they pull into the creative team. For this series, there are three writers; Ed Brisson, Matthew Rosenberg, and Kelly Thompson. Alongside them are four artists; Mahmud Asrar, R.B. Silva, Yildiray Cinar, and Pere Perez.
We’re definitely looking forward to more!
