Producer Provides an Update on the Black Adam DC Film
Warner Bros. cast Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam as part of the DC Extended Universe some time ago. Since then, news has been scarce and fans were concerned the project had been dropped or was stuck and wouldn’t get off the ground for much too long.
Luckily, producer Hiram Garcia did an interview with Collider to talk about the show. In it he says that the project is well on its way, though it is still unclear if Black Adam will appear in the upcoming Shazam! movie.
“Black Adam is definitely happening,” Garcia said. “We’re actually very deep into the script on it right now, which is coming along really well. I’m really excited with the story we’ve created. Look, I’ve always been a huge comic book fan. I’ve always had this dream…and making a superhero movie was definitely always one of my dreams.”

Garcia said, “For the longest time, you know you kind of have this living superhero in Dwayne Johnson, so I was always trying to figure out what’s the perfect character that will kind of fit him and his look and build his kind of edge and the attitude he’s got.”
He also said that the idea came years ago and he quickly settled with them on the actor and the character.
For a while, the idea was just to have Black Adam as a supporting role in the Shazam! movie, but both Garcia and the studio decided that to do the characters proper justice, they each needed their own film.
“It allowed us to develop the right version of both,” Garcia said.
Whether or not Black Adam will appear in Shazam! is still up in the air. He might still make a cameo. Writers are still developing and putting things together for it. Shazam! opens on April 5, 2019.
