It’s been a good year for Marvel Netflix with this summer’s The Defenders and the upcoming first season of The Punisher, which is arriving November 17. Everyone knows The Punisher will be a hit, he’s been a fan-favorite since his appearance in season two of Daredevil. Speaking of Daredevil it’s time to go back to the beginning and the first Marvel Netflix series. Comingsoon.net has announced that Vincent D’Onofrio is going to be reprising his role as Wilson Fisk for the Marvel Netflix series’ upcoming third season. D’Onofrio was one of the breakout hits during the first season of Daredevil with his portrayal of The Kingpin.
The Return of the Kingpin
The executive producer of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, had this to say about the return of the actor and the character, “Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk.” D’Onofrio is the fourth confirmed cast member for Daredevil’s third season. Others who are confirmed are Charlie Cox in the titular role of Matthew Murdock/Daredevil, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll in the role of Karen Page.
The third season will bring yet another new showrunner, the show has had a different showrunner each season. Steven Deknight was the showrunner for it’s first season, Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez shared the responsibility during season two and this time the reins will fall to Erik Oleson. Oleson is known for his work on the Man in the High Castle, Kings and he also wrote for a number of episodes of The CW’s comic book drama Arrow.
Shooting and production for Daredevil’s third season is set to begin this year but the season itself will not air until 2018. The executive producers are new showrunner Erik Oleson, The Cabin in the Woods’ Drew Goddard alongside Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
