Yes, it’s Tuesday and we’re still talking about the Super Bowl, or more specifically the commercials from the Super Bowl. If you want to get even more specific, we’re talking about the movie trailers from the Super Bowl. This year it was a little light compared to previous years. The three major trailers being Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and our personal favorite Transformers: Age of Extinction. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a good two minutes long and gave a much better look at Anthony Mackie as Falcon. It is definitely on our “must-see” list now that it is only a couple of months away. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 showed a little more of Rhino, and so far we here at Word of the Nerd are unimpressed. The stand out trailer, which is actually a teaser trailer was Transformers: Age of Extinction. More of Michael Bay’s distorted vision of the popular 80s cartoon series. In spite of having Bay’s taint all over it, fans were treated to their first real look at Grimlock. To make it even cooler, Optimus Prime is riding Grimlock in dinosaur mode. Finally this might be the Transformers movie that we deserve.
Today’s wallpaper is from the upcoming Marvel do-over comic series Fantastic Four #1. Marvel Comics has been in the annoying habit lately of stopping their comic series mid-stride and then starting back at number one without much of a valid reason. It plays hell with critics and collectors alike. However unlike Marvel’s counterparts over at DC Comics, these irritating do-overs leave their story continuity intact. Take that Dan DiDio. Our thanks to Wallpaper Abyss for providing today’s wallpaper.
