“I did not start this war. I offered you peace. I showed you mercy. But now you’re here, to finish us off for good.” These are the first bone-chilling lines delivered by the talented Andy Serkis. The first trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes dropped today, and boy does it deliver a large amount of excitement. With several riveting action sequences shown, along with some great lines delivered by Andy Serkis and a new face to the Planet of the Apes series, Woody Harrelson.
From what we can gather from the trailer, the plot seems to be recycled from the previous films just amplified. It appears that the apes have been living quietly in the mountains. But the humans are bothered by their presence and attempt to drive them out. And with a few cues from those first lines, it seems that Cesar has once again given the humans another chance. Cesar understands the violent nature of the humans, so he is prepared to let them fix themselves. But at the hand of a man simply referred to as The Colonel, played by Woody Harrelson, the humans are ready to retaliate once again.

The trailer shows quite a few exciting action sequences. From the humans charging up a mountain with weapons, unleashing hellfire on the apes. To the apes utilizing a more mundane style of fighting with bows and arrows, and fists. One rather exciting moment is a sequence where Cesar is kneeling to The Colonel, and the Colonel puts a gun to Cesar’s head. This film without a doubt will be quite an exciting action piece.
What to Keep An Eye Out for in War for the Planet of the Apes:
A rather clear aspect to this film, that’s been apparent in the other installments but is clearly mastered in this is the motion capture. Andy Serkis is clearly talented at the motion capture acting and has mastered every aspect of it. But for some reason, there is a certain aesthetic appeal with this installment. Andy Serkis deserves to get much more credit for his talents than he actually receives. So the biggest thing to look out for in this installment is the pure ferocity of Andy Serkis
War for the Planet of the Apes releases on July 14th, 2017.
