The Clone Wars: Time for a Rewatch Marathon
Being stuck inside has been a major downer for many people. But on the bright side, it has given many fans a chance to indulge in the media they love, be it for the first time, or for the hundredth. That is why I spent much of this week binge-watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The Clone Wars (the TV series) fits into the Star Wars universe between the events in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. (Just on the off chance that you didn’t already know that.) It follows Obi-Wan, Anakin, and many of the other famous Jedi as they, unsurprisingly, battle their way through the Clone Wars.
Why I’m Rewatching It
The Clone Wars was a major hit, no matter how you look at it. In fact, it has such a fan following that it has recently earned itself a new season through Disney+. I’m personally working my way back to the newest season, in order to have it all fresh in my head.
This is a series that will always be dear to my heart, and for a variety of reasons. Not least of these is the introduction of one of my favorite Star Wars characters: Ahsoka Tano. Hence another reason why I’m so excited to get onto the most recent season.
My goal for the week had been to watch all of the older seasons. Unfortunately, I fell slightly short of that goal. I still have one season left (a little less, actually, as I’m two episodes in). I think I can reasonably finish my binge-watch later this week, and finally begin my journey through the latest (and last) season.
Is It Worth Binging?
Does this question even need to be asked? Yes! A hundred times yes. The Clone Wars is a fun and exciting series—one that gives a huge cast of characters a chance to shine over the course of seven seasons.
As with any series, there are high points and low points. Some episodes are, without a doubt, my favorite, while others I was deeply tempted to skip (I didn’t). I imagine that is how most fans feel about any series that runs this long.
Overall? It was absolutely worth the time. It was just as endearing as I remembered, and I picked up on a ton of little details that I had either missed or forgotten. That is one of the many reasons why I’d urge Star Wars fans to give this series another go. Plus, you can easily binge it on Disney+, which is a nice (and lazy) perk.
I know that my goal rewatching the Clone Wars backlog put off my opportunity to watch the newer episodes. But I honestly feel that it was worth it. This series has so much to offer both old and new fans alike. So any excuse and encouragement to go through it all again is certainly worth it.
I had so much fun seeing all of my favorite characters again, from the ones I loved, to the ones I loved to hate. More than that, I feel like I found deeper insight through this watch-through. I certainly formed some stronger opinions about specific series of events.
Would I binge the series again? Without hesitation. Though personally, I think my next Star Wars-related binge will likely be Star Wars: Rebels. After all, it fits in nicely with the timeline.
