The Wheel of Time coming to Amazon

Wheel of time

It’s Official: Amazon will be Making Wheel of Time into a TV Series

Fans of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan have had to put up with endless speculation about the potential for a TV series, but finally, it seems like there’s a bit of hope for them to hold onto. Amazon has officially announced that they’ll be turning the fourteen book series into a TV show.

Now, this isn’t the first time fans have gotten their hopes up for a series, nor is it the first solid attempt at converting the series to the small screen. However, this attempt feels real, with Amazon making an official agreement with Sony.

Rafe Judkins has been put in charge of the project. Fans will likely remember Judkins from his work in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He seems enthusiastic to get the project started, so hopefully, we’ll be receiving more information in the near future.

The Source Material

Author Robert Jordan

The Wheel of Time Series is a whopping fourteen books, plus a collection of short stories and novellas. Most of the novels hover around the nine hundred page mark, in paperback format. So it’s safe to say that there’s more than enough material for a television series to pull from. One can only hope that they won’t rush through what’s been handed to them.

While Robert Jordan, whose real name was James Oliver Rigney Jr., has sadly passed away, there is one author that the project’s crew could reach out to for insight. Brandon Sanderson famously stepped in to help finish the massive series, and so it would be wonderful to see him contribute to the TV adaptation.

The Books

For the fans out there that would like to read (or re-read) the series, here is the order of the fourteen books:

And don’t forget about the prequel, New Spring. Which was published later, and can be read in either publishing or chronological order, depending on your preference?

Word of the Nerd will update as we get more information, but in the meantime are there any casting theories or favorite fancastings you’d like to share?
