There is a Wizard of Oz television show in development, thanks to Legendary Entertainment. So get your ruby slippers… Oh, never mind, that’s just a Hollywood thing. Well, who cares? A Closer Look

According to Variety, the new series is said to be derived from the original book series by L. Frank Baum and will focus on previously unseen characters. There are fourteen books in Baum’s series that the show can draw from. Seriously, fourteen novels to give material for a show has to be a gold mine for showrunners adapting a novel into a show.

One of the creative forces behind the development of the series is Ed Ricourt, who is pinned to write and produce the series. Ricourt had previously worked on the film Now You See Me as a co-writer for the story and screenplay. He has also written for Jessica Jones and Wayward Pines. Also, Ricourt is a writer and producer for the upcoming Netflix series Raising Dion.

From Ricourt’s previous work, I believe that gives us a glimpse of what we are in store for, and I’m so ready for a more twisty-turny with magic around every weird corner that will be scoured to reveal weirdness on a different scale than what we’ve seen in any other version of The Wizard of Oz

 Sound Off
