It’s been a pretty busy week for Wonder Woman fans. First of all, the Wonder Woman film has started production, and the first official image has been burning up the internet. But even with Gal Gadot appearing in the part for next year’s Batman v Superman, and trailers and merchandise already featuring the character, we haven’t had a good enough look at the Wonder Woman symbol, until now.
Graphitti Designs unveiled the Wonder Woman symbol to Heroic Hollywood earlier this week, and it does seem to fit the feel of the DC Expanded Cinematic Universe. It’s not as sleek as previous imaginings, and is rendered in her more traditional gold than her New 52/DCYou silver. Still, the requisite double Ws are there, forming the wings of a more blocky eagle that will form the top of her breastplate. Purists might debate the size of the eagle head, or the blockiness of the shape, but it does fit the aesthetic of this new movie universe, and definitely serves as a proper symbol of one of DC Comic’s most famous heroes.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 26th, 2016. Wonder Woman, now filming, is expected to be released on June 23rd, 2017.
